Dr Hall & Partners, Calcot Medical Centre

Dr Hall & Partners has been a training practice for more than twenty years. The present trainer Dr Richard Foskett has been a trainer for ten years. There are five partners, Dr Simon Butcher, Dr Richard Foskett, Dr Peter Petrie and Dr Nicola Turner work full time, Dr Desmond Hall works part time and Dr Marion Quiney works in the practice for four sessions a week on the doctor's retainer scheme. The partners have various clinical and administrative interests and responsibilities. The registrar in the practice is able to take full advantage of theses.

Calcot Medical Centre

Calcot Medical Centre is shared by Dr Hall & Partners and Dr Allan & Partners, two separate training practices in the Wycombe District. The two practices share facilities and out of hours on call rota, and staff the adjacent thirty two bed community hospital. The practices cover most of Chalfont St peter, Gerrards Cross and a number of outlying villages. The area is suburban and semi rural. The patients tend to be affluent and employed with little deprivation. We have somewhat more elderly patients than average and look after several nursing homes and residential homes for the elderly.

Hours of Duty

Monday to Friday, formal hours of duty are 8.30am to 6.00pm except Tuesday which is the VTS Day Release at Wycombe Hospital. The Registrar finishes at 12.30pm on Fridays. There is a two hour tutorial on Friday mornings and usually some other formal educations activity on another day. Some of the educational activities are shared with the registrar of Dr Allan & Partners. There are a variety of educational/administrative meetings throughout the working week, the registrar is fully integrated into these activities.

Dr Hall & Partners and Dr Allan & Partners have an extended rota to cover the practice from 6.00pm to 10.00pm and 7am to 8.30am each week day and at weekends. There is no night duty, night duty being carried out by Healthcall from 10pm to 7am. The registrar therefore covers the practice about one evening in ten and one weekend in five (shared with a partner).
