Premises

• Modern, purpose built, well-equipped premises.

Training

• Involved in training of registrars since 1985.
• Two-hour tutorials every week with trainer (Dr Azmy Birdi).
• Two-hour tutorials with partner or other team member as appropriate.
• Daily contact with team members.
• All community nurses and health visitors are involved with student training in their own fields.
• All doctors are involved with medical student training twice a year for two weeks.

Out of hours

• We belong to a co-operative - BeDrOCk.
• The partner's on-call commitment is approximately two 6-hour sessions each month.
• We do not expect registrars to participate in the out of hours rota, though they may do sessions for training under supervision.

Primary health care team

• Our registrars have a broad training experience as collectively our interests cover a wide range of medical specialities.
• Our particular strengths are:
  1. Chronic care management, especially diabetes, asthma, hypertension, ischaemic heart disease, rheumatology, gynaecology, obstetrics and well-woman medicine.
  2. Supportive in-house services - podiatry, dietetics, physiotherapy, clinical psychology, counselling and minor operations.

Information technology

• EMIS computer - networked.
• 100% summarisation of records on the computer.
• Paperless since December 2001.

Beacon status

• We have been awarded Beacon status for the production of our annual report on clinical governance.
• This demonstrates total team involvement with quality care for patients, which is the fundamental ethos of our practice.
