Pound House Surgery

We are a long established training practice based in two villages on the River Thames. We have two surgeries and a list size of over 7000 patients, varying from affluence to pockets of deprivation.

We are strongly committed to training, as we are to patient-centred care, and have a reputation for providing excellent training in a relaxed atmosphere. Our registrars have their own room which is well equipped and have protected time for tutorials and regular debriefing with all partners. They are a welcome and valuable part of our full PHCT. We support and encourage our registrars to take MRCGP, and all have passed, several completing the exam during the registrar year.

Our practice is well equipped and friendly, with a high level of computerisation. We use the EMIS system, with fully networked PCs on every desktop (including the registrar's!) and desktop access to NHS Net and the Internet. We are paperless, with all hospital letters and path results on the system.

We are fully involved with the Chiltern VTS Scheme with its excellent full-day-release course.

We are members of the local out-of-hours co-operative, and offer registrars experience both with the Co-op and in doing some traditional on-call - enough to see what each is like, but not enough to be onerous!
